HOPE
Mosaic of building blocks, Nepalese paper background, black baroque frame, anti-reflective glass
2024 - 50 x 50 cm
This minimalist mosaic is organized around the word “HOPE”, inscribed in white with a deliberately raw frontal presence. Its immediate readability makes it an accessible work while asserting a resolutely contemporary aesthetic.
The angular, almost austere typography evokes the rigid lines of modern architecture. It is gradually inhabited by discreet yet living vegetation, suggesting an organic reclaiming. The work thus places two opposing forces in tension: human construction and the unfolding of the living.
The use of building blocks allows me to transpose a practice rooted in pixel art into a physical space, materializing the digital image through a tangible and familiar medium. This object, widely shared in the collective imagination, activates both a playful and cultural dimension.
The custom frame was made by "L'Éclat de Verre" in Cormontreuil, contributing to the contrast between decorative tradition and contemporary plastic language.
